Toilets

I love the toilets at work.. In the UK the toilets are awesome cause they go all the way down.. So it's like your in your own little room. Not like stalls. So you don't have to listen to the next person fart and have exploding diarrhea. They can do it in the comfort of their own cube.

BRILLIANT!

Brick Lane

Went down to London to see the London office. I really liked the location. It was in a nice design district, with lots of trendy stores and little markets. Its a place called isslington. It was a nice side of London that I've never seen. So took the train down, got into the hotel, and then went on our way to see the new office. It was a large studio with 35 people. The company I work at has a sister company in London, that is also attached with a architect company. The company that I work at is geared with design that involves more than just just architecture.

So after a speech the champagne rolled out and so did beers...ooooo.
We all had some talks in the office and then moved out to the bars. The area is very close to Brick Lane, which is the Bengali district in London. It's amazing, there are a million curry houses. All the street signs are written in Bengali. It was like I was in a modern Kolkata, really made me happy.

I went into a chip shop and had a talk with the owner.. It was really amusing because he was speaking English with a hard English accent.. It was so funny.

had a great night! I went to some really fun clubs, where I met this Korean girl straight out of a Japanese movie.. She was dressed really cool. Her BF was even dressed cooler. Left that joint and ventured into the world of London dancing. It was so much fun. The only bad thing was that my feet were killing me and I had to be barefoot.

Starting to have a great time here. The weather has been great too. Really mild and nice at night.

Looking forward to the weekend

Rain and white people music

It's so bizarre how music segregates people. I went to a concert last night with a work friend and her BF, and their friends. So I was with a motley crowd of 30-something/20 something's. It was pretty interesting. the first person to come up was really good, he had lots of energy. Then the main guy came out and thats when things got interesting. It was so funny. All these guys had their eyes closed and they were swaying. It was quite a scene, i was half expecting them to fall over. So being the shirley that i am, i started to make jokes and got nasty glares and sh's... Ooo it was soo annoying. Then i played the lets find another dark person in the club, when it struck me that i was the only one! Later 2 more indian people appeared, and i truly believed they came with no choice, like me. I'm not a big fan of acoustic guitar.. especially when there is no band to play with him.. it was soooooo uber boring.

Don't get me wrong i like that kind of music, but usually when i'm sitting down on the deck talking to my good friends about tv shows and movies we've seen.. definitely not a place to go see live.. but thats just me.

I am still having a lot of trouble sleeping. i went to bed around 11 and then woke up an hour later and not being able to fall asleep till 3:00. I red some weird comic books that freaked me out cause it was called the sandman and it was all about dream things..... spooked me out.

i forced myself to close my eyes.. and then i got sad again.. i'm giving it time. That book didn't help either.

It's really pissing down raining here tonight. It's really really wet. I can't believe some people out there do not have umbrellas, there all in suits and it's pouring on them... id-jots!

going down to london today for work.. going to a fun party afterwards for some send offs for the london office.. i'll write when i come back..

Noise is a hard thing to sleep in

I HATE TRAINS. I HATE THEM ESPESICALLY WHEN THEY ARE RIGHT NEXT TO YOUR BED.

Oh such pain, such pain.
Most nights i have to sleep through freight trains passing by 24/7, but last night was a special treat. There was some awesome construction going on, which emitted sounds that would probably stun a baby. It was awful. I don't understand why they have to do it in such a un-godly hour. I didn't have any cotton so i had to take apart 3 q-tips and peel the cotton of, somehow make them into a ball and stuff my ears with them. it was so hard to stay asleep.

Other than my terrible sleeping patters, i have officially become depressed. I was really doing bad last night when i got back from work. I was totally missing my friends and family. I was especially missing my mom's ridiculously funny laugh. This is what i get for making drastic decisions. I was so fed up with being in my apt, which has no TV, that I went out on my own to a bar near me. It's a nice Independent Film Cinema/bar/restuarant. It was nice and there was a large selection of draft beer. So I boldly went in, ordered one and had a seat. I started talking to the girls who worked there.. being an idiot and asking if they wanted to be my friend... YAH!

one even asked me to come to her house party... oooooooo.
but i ended up having some nice conversation with the bouncer guy who also worked a music hall, he mentioned that Gwen Steffani is very nice and so is Kylie Monouge. I agreed i thought if i met them they would be nice.

after that i went home, tried to sleep, and thats when hell started.. mentioned above.

Manchester and all its goodies

My apt is nice and near everything.. the only problem is the trains that pass by.. i can't keep my window open cause of the noise.. but i like my flat. it's got a balcony and really nice sun comes in. I'm near all the primary things: food, movies, china town!

i'm so happy i'm near the chinatown cause i do love my asian food. there are loads of bars and chinese food places. My company is right in center of town so it's fabooo. near all the shops and central to every and all things. i can't wait to get started on working. i'm pretty excited!

i can't wait to have all you come visit me!

also suprising.. there is more sun here than usual.. i knew i should have brought more sandals!

DETAINED AND harrasment

"you just had that in your mouth"
- words from the woman behind the desk at the US Airways check in.

I had a my hands full and had to place my passport in my mouth.. so i got a rude begingin to my trip.
i snapped back.. well do you want me to sanitize it for you? wiping it on my jeans several times.. wanting so bad to say.."i'm sure you've had worse things in your hands"...but i resisted the temptations.

After a long time spent on the plane.. i atleast got all 4 seats on my isle i think due to noone being on a plane that was landing on Sep 11th. I got some rest and proceeded to the ever fun start of customs.

Frustrations begin::

i was questioned as usual asking personal things like.. what kind of soap i use.. ladie ladie la. when to i urinate more often... you the usual blah blah. then she looked in her little computer looked up at me and then gave me a piece of paper.. i was to be detained for furthur questioning. What the hell does that mean? I wasn't so sure.. did i accidently swallow some cocoain pouches unbeknown to me?

i was calm and cool, till i saw a little boxed checked off that said i was supposed to be examined by a medical staff...what the "$^£&$^"(")!_!&£$$^?

then i lost my cool and spoke to the man standing near me.. i was giving it my best philly accent.. "Man.. what's this shiat about? i aint going to get my butt searched!" he looked at me went over the the officer and asked a some questions then gingerly came over to me, and said if i was calm it will go much quicker... i was seriosly baffled at what was going on. I kept saying "THIS IS HARRASMENT!" not only did i have to sit in front of the line where every person passing in the the UK looked at my like i was a terrorist detained.. and probably appluded themselves for being such a good country for detaining those brown people... but i didn't even get any water.. and i had some rank airplane breath!

so after EVERY SINGLE person for the next 1.5 hours went past me she called me up and asked some more questions that i had answered perfectly well before... and said it was okay....ooooo i could have strangled her.. damn biatch! she probably thought it was really amuzing to do that to me.

oh well the poor guy next to me was denined entrance and had to go back to the states... what a bummer he looked like he was hyperventlating! I thought it was funny that they offered him water and not me... Good thing i made sure to speak loudly and with more breath so she could really smell my rank breath...serves her right!
